Journalism matters. Understanding and upholding journalistic standards is critical to a democratic, free society. Learning to recognize quality information and how to think critically about it is a fundamental civic duty.
The Fair Media Council has been holding news and media accountable while working to create an informed, media-savvy society since 1979. The more time goes on, the more important their work becomes. It’s about transparency, accountability, and credibility, as well as fostering the ability to recognize all that when we see it.
The FMC newsletter offers clear eyed, informative commentary. Their award-winning podcast features unscripted conversations with top influencers in news, business and technology. On their website, you may find:

In addition to celebrating the best of local journalism, our combined feedback serves the entire industry by providing concrete examples of what the public wants and needs in its newsfeed.
