Last Call for Firefly Essentials Drive

Thanks to Firefly Steve Caputo of Light of Day Gallery, for the last several years we of The Firefly Artists have hosted an annual Island Harvest Essentials Drive. The call is wrapping up, but there is still time to donate! If you will be in Northport over the next few days, please stop by the Firefly Gallery at 90 Main Street and drop off a donation of non-perishable food or personal care items. Donation boxes are located inside the gallery. Monetary donations and grocery gift cards are also being accepted.

Island Harvest is Long Island’s leading hunger relief organization. Food insecurity impacts more Long Islanders than ever before. We are grateful that the Northport community has always been generous when it comes to supporting those in need. The loss of federal funding along with the suspension of SNAP benefits to over 110,000 Long Island households have further exacerbated what is a real food emergency crisis. By the end of 2025, the nonprofit projects it will distribute over 20 million pounds of food to hungry Long Islanders through 300 food pantries.

For your convenience, we’ve attached a list of suggested food donations. If you wish to make a monetary contribution to Island Harvest, you can simply find our donation page here.

About the Firefly Artists

The Firefly Artists was established in 2011 to create a gallery setting for local artists. The goal was to create a space where artists could meet, collaborate, and sell their creations. Over the past decade, The Firefly Artists has displayed a variety of work by over 400 Long Island artists through our Main Street locations and pop-up galleries in the community. We boast some extraordinary talent, while maintaining a very down to earth and supportive atmosphere that is unique to Long Island. Every time you shop at The Firefly Artists Gallery, you help ensure our future and our ability to serve the local art community.
