Huntington Arts Council – Chapin Awards 2023

Logo for Huntington Arts Council 60th Anniversary Tribute to the Arts

This looks amazing! Please join the Huntington Arts Council (HAC) at the Engeman Theater in Northport for their Chapin Awards 2023: A Tribute to the Arts

Celebrating 60 Years of Service to the Arts

Come celebrate the HAC’s 60th Anniversary with a multi-media Tribute to the Arts. The HAC has been serving the Town since 1963 when the Council formally accepted the recommendation of a committee charged by Supervisor Flynn to “consider the problems of maintaining an adequate cultural life in the expanding community complex of Huntington.”

You may read the full history here. Apparently, they started with Town donated office space, phone, and support from the Recreation Department. Their first annual budget was expected to be about $500-700 raised by the Huntington community. As you can see here, here , and all over their website, the HAC has since inspired, informed and aided the growth of hundreds of people and organizations across Long Island.

The Huntington Arts Council maintains a robust exhibition and program schedule in their beautiful Main Street Gallery, and are the reason the Town has a Summer Arts Festival in Heckscher Park. They are primary coordinators of Town and State arts initiatives on Long Island, serve as tremendous communicators of local arts and why they’re so important, and act as key partners to advance the arts Island-wide.
