Two Art Walks and an Outdoor Gallery

We are incredibly grateful to live in a place where something amazing is happening just about every weekend. These events are marvelous opporutnities to explore and support our downtowns and the rich communiyt of artists we are so proud to be a part of. Here are a few happening in our back yard. We’d love to hear what’s happening near you!

This Weekend: Huntington Art Walk

Join the Huntington Art Center, along with a variety of other venues around town, as they celebrate that vibrant village’s deep embrace of the arts. It is free. It is fun. Come see!

This is “a self-guided tour of the new exhibits at the museums and galleries, in the Village of Huntington, New York.  Many of the artists will be on hand to talk about their inspiration, while you enjoy tasty treats and check out the art scene in the Village! Live music playing along the way.”

When: Sunday, October 4, 12-5pm
Detailed information on each site is available at The Huntington Art Center Website. There’s a lot there. Check it out!
There will be an info table under the marquee at the Paramount Theater on the day of the event.

This is ALWAYS a fantastic event. Enjoy!

Next Weekend: Northport Art Walk

This 2026 event is brought to you by the Firefly Artists and the Northport Arts Coalition. We are grateful to Kasher Gallery & Studios for the map design and creative direction! We are also grateful to Mark and Nora Nolan for sponsoring this event In Honor of the late Pamela Long Nolan, Artist.

Mostly, we of The Firefly are grateful to our wonderful neighbors for being part of our community and doing stuff like this with us!

When: Saturday, October 10, 12-5pm
Where: All up and down Main St, Northport and beyond!
Pick up a map: like the one above at the Firefly at 90 Main, just up the block at Trinity Community Art Center (they’ll be having an outdoor fair that day) or at the Northport/East Northport Library over on Laurel Road.
Choose Your Own Adventure!

The event was scheduled to build on Trinity’s outdoor art fair, which occurs that day. Our other creative neighbors have all sorts of wonderful things planned as well. Honestly, just by existing, they are rich food for the soul!!! It’s a wonderful way to get to know Northport’s creative community and celebrate local arts and artists!

Plus: LIPAF at the Huntington Fall Festival!

We’ve mentioned this before: The third leg of this immersive, public art exhibition will be unveiled shortly, running 10/9-11/1 at Heckscher Park in Huntington. This last installation is part of a special collaboration with the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce. Its kickoff will occur during the always incredible Long Island Fall Festival, richly enhancing this largest event of its kind in the Northeast.

The Long Island Public Arts Festival (LIPAF) is an immersive, multi-site, multi-exhibition public arts installation series. It all started as a partnership between Colored Colors and BACCA (Babylon Citizen’s Council on the Arts) at Phelps Lane Park in the Town of Babylon, with support from the Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs (SCOCA).

They call these tri-fold elements dotting the landscape “prisms.” What they are, are larger than life canvas prints of works of artists from throughout New York State thoughtfully displayed in public parks for all to enjoy. Founded on the South Shore, the concept has quickly spread north, gaining support and appreciation, while bridging communities and connecting people through the power of art.

Check out the beautiful LIPAF website for developing details Each show is unique, providing ample opportunity for Long Island’s rich artist community and all who appreciate or participate.
